EDITOR'S WORDS: Moving at the speed of love

FEATURED POEMS: 2 poems from our collection

DID YOU KNOW?: How to say "I love you" in Afrikaans

BITS 'N' PIECES: Book selection "17 Love poems with no
despair" by B.J. Ward

1. Editor's words: Moving at the speed of love

How is it that love can move at speeds rivalling that of
light? We've always believed that there isn't much
(or maybe nothing at all) that travels faster than light.
However, for those who've been instantly love-struck,
they may beg to differ.

It may be a fleeting glance, a voice carried over the
airwaves or a gentle touch. There's no telling exactly
what propels those emotions into full flight, but the
overwhelming feeling of well-being is universal.

Given the potential speed of love, there are a few things
to be mindful of:

1. Moving at speeds rivalling that of light may cause
weightlessness, i.e., feeling there's nothing but air under
your feet.

2. Occasional dizziness and/or head-spinning.

3. Dryness in the mouth.

4. Acutely enhanced vision and other senses.

5. Higher appreciation of the "little" things: fragrances in
the air; textures of fabrics etc.

6. Irregular heartbeats.

Whatever the "side effects" of moving at the speed of
love, we have to agree though that the overall feeling is
one of complete and utter radiance…
Lasting, Optimistic, Visions of Eternity.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on this. You can go
straight here and share your thoughts on moving at the
speed of love. This will be totally anonymous so you
don't have to tell us who you are!

2. Featured Poems

Here's our selection of poems for this week:

How can I oppose you
How can I oppose you
When life itself follows you?
I don't fully comprehend
What lies around the bend
But one thing I do know
I'm with you wherever you go.

My emotions often race

My emotions often race
Well ahead of me,
Leaving a distinct trace
For me to follow.
I'm glad to say
All roads lead to you
And there's no other way
To find my joy.

3. Did you know?

How to say these 3words, I Love You, in Afrikaans…
Ek het jou lief.
