"The middle of heartache" by Diana (Third)

An uncompleted secret is inside us all,
Waiting - hoping - planning
It will stay until the call, that fateful call;
For some the call will not come.

And they will never know,
Exactly where the river will flow.
They will wait, wait and wonder,
Thinking of days gone by.
The ghosts of the times of the past.

A smile here, a memory there,
Emotions creeping everywhere.
A chill just to think of the untold.
A thing that might never before you unfold.

For a start is a start, And an ending an ending.
But the middle is the place for the heart to keep bending.
It will beat in anticipation,
It will break with sorrow.
There is no preparation,
To help ease tomorrow.

When trapped in the middle, the secret will stay.
Your heart will keep breaking with every new day.
But perhaps it is best to leave it alone,
For in some cases the heart is not so forlorn.
It is filled with joy beyond any words I can tell.
For fate has a way of ringing its bell.
