"Within Me", by Pervez (First)
I saw your reflection looking at me from the moon, on the surface of the lake.
A ripple formed and distorted your image,
when I realized this must be a dream since I was not awake.
I saw your face smiling at me from the glistening dew drop
in the morning once again.
Before it mingled and got transformed into a stream when it began to rain.
I followed the stream, as it became a rivulet flowing continously
down the mountain, through the valleys, without taking a break.
By now it had become a river, flowing serenely to finally unite with the lake.
It was night and the lake now quiet and calm.
When I looked on its surface, hopinq to see you,
I saw your reflection next to mine smiling wide.
And I felt your hands caressing me soothingly like a balm.
While whispering, that you would always be there by my side.
I turned around to see you, but you were not there,
and I realized the folly on my part.
For I had been searching for you everywhere outside,
while you had always been there within me, in my heart.
